Many people who thought they were understanding what Google wanted were taken by surprise when the Panda update was introduced.
Like they have done before, Google brought devastation to the incomes of many good people trying to make a living online. Sympathy for marketers that were harmed by this update did not come easily.
It was a combination of bad content and low quality sites that caused people to lose ranking. If you're interested in my full Senuke X Review, check it out and learn more about what's considered low quality content. The quality of the websites that Google expects were protected, in essence, by this update.
If you are a webmaster, you should understand that using the same title tag on more than one page is not good SEO. But it is seen around the web, and you need to be aware of this mistake if you are new. Of course this is something that will not sit very well in some aspects with Google.
Anyone with internal duplicate content should get rid of it as Google will not reward you for having it on your site. If you place the same title tag on more than one page, then unless it's a mistake you are doing it for a reason. You could actually be penalized for doing this, especially if the topics on each page are identical. So always remember that every page must have a unique title tag.
The next thing we need to address is lack of relevancy - this can lead to a host of problems in regard to website ranking. For this discussion, we will focus on the content on individual pages on your website, not specifically the main domain itself. Each page URL should hint at the content of each page. This will forewarn the reader of what they are about to find.
Anyone that is searching for your website will look at this to understand what the page may be about. You can bet that Google does it as well, and they look at that plus the page title. Make sure that you name your page URLs after the content that you are writing about.
One of the things you'll notice about authority sites is that, even if they are well known, Panda or SEO principles are not applied. In this case, these sites will be very well organized and crafted, but they have very little copy on the pages. The content is usually about 400 words or less, but the website itself looks fantastic. This is in direct conflict with what Panda is all about which is eliminating poor quality sites. They may be ranked well because they have been around for so long, despite their negligence in producing good information. This may be why they are not a target in the eyes of Google.
The Panda update was very traumatic to many Internet marketers, but you can fix your violations by doing just a few simple things. People everywhere are still trying to game the system, instead of just fixing a few things that can make everything okay. These individuals are like everyone else, trying to make a living online. All you have to do to increase your traffic, or keep your rankings, is to comply with Google. It's that easy!
